This article appeared recently in T.H.E. Journal:

More schools have begun streaming their graduations on the Internet, to provide a means for people who can’t attend the ceremony in person to watch while it unfolds.

Sutherland Public School broadcast its high school graduation ceremony live via the Internet so grandparents or anybody else that would like to watch the graduation could do so through the school’s web page. They used the free service from LiveStream. To view Sunderland’s live or archived webcasts, go to their web page and click on the link ‘Live Broadcasts’. Read more.

Eight high schools in Anchorage have been webcasting significant community events since 2007. They’ve broadcast high school graduations, the Alaska state high school football and hockey championships, and a military welcome-home ceremony. You can view archives of their 2009 graduations here.

Garden Spot High School, PA will be streaming its ceremony to viewers who pre-register for the service. You can read about it here.

This is a fabulous idea, but I wonder how long it will be before something (or someone) untoward happens to jeopardise these webcasts.
