Singing via Videoconference
June 26, 2008 | |
I’ve been gathering some new resources for my Effective Videoconference Teaching workshop. In a search through YouTube I found a series of videos about ‘Singing with Shane’. Below is one of these - see VC in Schools in my YouTube channel if you’d like to see more. I think this looks like a great use, but I have a few questions that I hope someone from EdLink12 can answer in the comments section.
Does Shane use the ‘character’ for the whole videoconference?
There’s limited interaction in the section shown - little more than could be achieved in a TV broadcast. Does ‘Shane’ interact more with the children in other parts of the lesson?
And just how do you create the characters - they’re fabulous?
Looking forward to more information on this fascinating program - enjoy:

Hi, Carol,
This program is highly interactive. We began the program to meet a need from our schools for quality interactive programs for PreK-1st grade students (ages 3-6). He asks the students questions and then has them sing with him. The students have to mute their microphones during the singing due to the echo/delay in the audio.
Shane will be one of the IVC Showcase sessions at NECC 2008 in San Antonio on Monday, June 30 from 12:30-1:00 PM.

Enjoy!

Thx Rox - I knew something good would be going on. I’ll post that longer version of Shane.
Cheers
