Australian Videoconference Sites

August 22, 2006 | |

If you want to videoconference to the wilds of Australia then here’s the map for you.

Scroll down the right-hand bar until you see: Video-conferencing Services and then click on the thumbnail map. You can zoom in on any spot. I zoomed to 0.1km and I could almost see the house I grew up in!!!

It shows videoconferencing sites in regional, rural and remote areas that were funded under the Networking The Nation project. (For non-Aussies - MOST of Australia is regional, rural and remote!!!)

Don’t use this to find a site in the major capital cities (I’d use whygo for that). And you won’t get any contact information - you’ll need the bush telegraph for that!!!

Anyway - for non-Aussies & those Aussies who spend too much time indoors, it’s an interesting geographical trip.

By the way - this is not the extent of rural videoconferencing facilities - many schools have them.
